South Florida is about to feel the heat of raw truth, rhythm, and real storytelling as Poetic Justice returns to the Island SPACE Caribbean Museum on Friday, April 26, 2025. This annual celebration of National Poetry Month isn’t your typical poetry event—it’s a full-on artistic experience that brings together some of the most powerful spoken word artists in the country for a night rooted in justice, identity, and culture.

Hosted and curated by powerhouse performers Frankie Red Wordz and Mecca Grimo, Poetic Justice 2025 will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and promises to be more than just a show. It’s where storytelling meets community. Where art meets accountability. And where the past, present, and future all share the same stage.

A Lineup of the Nation’s Top Spoken Word Artists

The Poetic Justice stage is graced this year by some of the most respected names in spoken word:

Ben Francois – A Haitian-American mental health therapist and poet whose work bridges healing and heritage.

Mori Taiye – A globally influenced artist drawing from Jamaican, African, French, and German roots to craft deeply layered poetic work.

Just John – A National Poetry Slam Champion of Jamaican and Dominican descent known for his powerful tribute pieces.

May Reign – Poet Laureate of Miami Gardens and a commanding voice for Black women and community resilience.

Quick the Poet – One of the most requested spoken word performers in the country, known for his explosive energy and social commentary.

Each poet brings more than rhymes—they bring lived experience, cultural pride, and a demand for visibility.

This year’s theme includes a literary exchange that pairs youth poets with seasoned professionals as they share spoken letters to their younger and future selves. It’s a powerful generational dialogue that speaks to the heart of what this event is about—legacy, reflection, and collective growth. This segment is brought to life through the work of Permission to Succeed Education Center with support from Fe Pou Li – Children’s Hope Chest of Dreams and Positivity Pays.

Of course, no great event is complete without music and visual art. Live sounds from The Tribe Band featuring Eudora Sage on sax and Royce on keys will flow through the night, while guests can also check out a special pop-up art exhibit and explore the museum’s extensive collection of Caribbean artifacts. It’s a night where every room is alive with expression.

Poetic Justice 2025 isn’t just a show—it’s a movement. And in a time when funding for cultural institutions is being cut and diverse voices are under attack, events like this prove why spaces like Island SPACE matter. They’re more than venues. They’re sanctuaries for truth, memory, and vision.

Whether you’re a poetry lover, a creative soul, or someone just looking to connect with powerful storytelling, this is where you want to be. Because when some of the best spoken word artists in the country come together under one roof, something bigger than art happens—it becomes culture.
